Velvet!

I love velvet around Christmastime as it has such a festive feel to it, especially when in luxurious colors like wine and green!
I know there is a lot of items here but velvet is one of my favorite trends! I actually purchased the blue dress with white collar from ark recently and it is so cute! Although it is rather short! I think my favourite thing on here though is the green velvet blazer from Topshop, even if it is quite pricey (bye bye student loan).. I also adore the ASOS embroidered dress (2nd row) and may indulge in ordering it tonight especially as there is 20% off EVERYTHING at Asos (ending tomorrow at 9am).
I would definitely recommend investing in a lovely velvet piece this winter to make you feel oh so christmassy!

River Island!

Found out today that I have got a job interview at River Island which I am super excited about! So I thought now would be a good time to do a post about the great stuff they have in the shops at the moment!
River Island hasn't always been one of my favourite places to shop but in the past few year that has changed immensely! I am a massive fan of their Chelsea Girl range and I absolutely love this midi dress in a wine colour! I think this would be great for Christmas as it classy and sophisticated and the colour just reminds me of winter and Christmas! River Island are great when it comes to selling a diverse range of clothes and it is probably why they appeal to so many people!

Let it burn!

Now that bonfire night is on its way it time for you all to unleash your inner fire, at least in the sense of what you wear!
I personally love this coat from Oasis (although it is a little pricey!). I love the burnt orange colour and the style is so classy and pretty! These colours are great for this time of year in general as orange is always a beautiful autumnal colour!

Happy Halloween

Just thought I'd post to wish everyone a happy Halloween. I have spent my day nursing a horrific hangover after a night out in Liverpool as a fallen angel. I didn't really think through the practicality of huge angel wings in VERY crowded clubs, I must have spent most of the night getting stuck and apologizing for almost taking peoples eyes out. But all in all, a great night! Here is a picture of my lovely make up courtesy of my boyfriend Freddie and my fallen angel outfit (even though you can't see the wings very clearly in this one)

Winter Warmers.

Winter (and Christmas!) is fast approaching and its time to dig out those jumpers! I will definitely be wearing my Christmas jumper soon; one I bought in Camden market last year! For those of you who are looking to invest is a classic winter jumper; here are some fab picks!
There are so many great options when it comes to knitwear; I have chosen a few of my favorites. I know its not even November yet, but as soon as Halloween is over I will be pulling out the Christmas style knitwear! If you are wanting to make a bold statement when it comes to Christmas jumpers this jumper from River Island is great! There will be no questioning which holiday you are excited for! Primark are also doing some very cute Christmas jumpers this year, so if a very christmassy jumper is what you are looking for then I suggest that you pop into your nearest store and have a look. If you want a Christmas feel without having the word 'christmas' and big reindeer images plastered across you then a fair isle print is perfect; I particularly like the one from Asos; these bright colours are sure to brighten up any winter day! Urban Outfitters, in my opinion, are the best place to go for a good jumper. They may be a little more on the pricey side but for quality they are definitely worth it! I've also included some jumpers that are wearable all year around (well in this country, as we don't see the sun very often!). I adore the floral print one from Pull & Bear and have been debating whether to buy it and probably will when my student loan comes in next (naughty!). I think that a good jumper in a great print or colour is an essential and will definitely be investing in a new one myself this year!

The Witching Hour.

Halloween is on its way! Here is my pick of great Halloween related items, both ones that would be great for a costume and those that just generally have a Gothic, creepy feel!
There is so much choice this year when it comes to finding a Halloween costume, and you don't just have to look in fancy dress stores as many high street stores and online brands have Halloween ranges.I actually considered the skeleton dress from Ark for myself but decided to go with something I already own (being a poor student and all). This is a great for Halloween and is very affordable! I also think that the pumpkin beanie hat from Asos is super cute if that's what you are looking for! There are also loads of Gothic dresses which would be great if you are wanting something you can wear again, such as the black midi dress from shelikes.com.

an unfashion related post

I know this isnt anything to do with fashion but oh well..

Lately on my Facebook, twitter, Instagram, everywhere really, I've seen dozens of people showing how much weight they've lost.. Well I'm the other way.. I have put on weight. But in a good way! I just want to point out that I didn't always look the way I do in the first photo. I used to be a healthy normal teenager until about age 15 when things went down hill. I used to be obsessed with programmes like Americas next top model and I aspired to be like the girls on that show but maybe took it too far.. I mean I've always been slight but I just took things to the extreme. The first photo was took before my year 11 prom, aged 16, but I had the frame of a child! It started to affect my school work and finally in the second year of a levels I had a realisation (with help from others.. Aka friends, family, teachers).. I suddenly saw how if I didn't pull my act together my future would suffer.. As I started to get better, I came into myself more, my grades improved and I had an unforgettable year 13! The second photo is me in June this year. I think I now look healthy and happy! I just wanted to post this as I know first hand how obsessive weight loss can be and how it easy to go too far! Statement Coats

Everybody need that go to coat for the winter and this year its about big and bold! Over sized coats are big for this season as are bright, statement colors. I will admit that over sized coats that suit me are something that is difficult to find because I'm tiny! However, I still think they are great, just maybe not for me!
There are so many different ways to go when it comes to a statement coat! If you are looking for that injection of color then the orange Topshop coat is a great one! This color is certain to brighten any dreary day! A style I am particularly fond of is the masculine over sized blazer. I am in love with this blazer from See by Chloe as it is oh so chic! However, even with the huge discount, this is a little out of reach with my tight student budget! Another big trend for this season is fur and this hooded faux fur coat from Pull & Bear is lush, but for a more understated look you could go for this BEAUTIFUL Warehouse coat! I have to say I have never wanted a coat so much as I want this one! I think I may have to splurge a little on this one!
The high street is full of beautiful coats this season so no doubt there will something to suit everyone's style.
Go bold when it's cold! (that was bad I know)

Label Lust

A designer whose clothes I am lusting after this season is Alberta Ferretti! I am in love with this Autumn/Winter collection! Although, a lot of the gowns are not exactly something that you could wear very often (if you could afford them in the first place!) I think the style, patterns and materials are very unique. No doubt there will be many high street copies, which I will definitely be keeping a keen eye out for!

These are probably my three favorite looks from the collection. Although the floor length black dress doesn't seem a very wearable item, I absolutely love the Gothic feel to it. Sometimes Gothic can be done in a way that I don't find very appealing but this dress has a certain elegance about it, which I love! I will definitely be looking for a dress is this style for my winter party wardrobe (maybe not a floor length one though, as I am only 5ft3!) As for the green dress; green is not a color I tend to wear but I do like this color and love the detail around the neckline! However, the white dress has to be my absolute favorite ( I do love a pretty white dress). What I love most about this dress is the detail on it; its stunning and almost ethereal! I also love the black waist band as it stops it looking too ''weddingy''. It is safe to say that I will be scouring the shops for a something similar to this dress!

Florals

Although floral is usually a trend exclusively for Spring and Summer, this year they are set to be big for Autumn/Winter! In my opinion floral is a trend that can be worn throughout the year. Yes, they do inevitable have a summery feel to them but if you look for prints in autumnal, and darker colors like purples they are a great way to liven up any winter outfit. Floral prints have been seen gracing the catwalks this season for the likes of Dolce & Gabbanna, Erdem and Christopher Kane, and no doubt the high street will follow in their footsteps.
One item that has particularly caught my eye is this skirt from New Look. I have to admit I am a big fan of this type of skirt, and I really love the tapestry effect. I think this would look rather nice with a slouchy, wine colored jumper! I also adore the Topshop tea style dress; the autumnal colors against the black are so beautiful! If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, the blazer from Mango is a great choice! And if you want something a bit more subtle, I think the blue floral scarf from Dorothy Perkins is oh so pretty!
So there is my picks for FLORAL.

Tartan

A big trend for Autumn/Winter 2013 is tartan. Although most will shy away from this look for the fear of looking like they've walked out of the Scottish highlands, it can be a very wearable look. Tartan is something that I have never considered wearing, particularly because my natural (pre-dyed) red hair may take the Scottish theme one step too far. However, looking at some high street and online stores like Urban Outfitters and Asos, you can find some very wearable and understated versions of tartan.

One of my favorite items has to be the over sized cardigan from Urban Outfitters. Teamed with your favorite pair of jeans, a simple tee, and a pair of brogues, this creates a relaxed look, perfect for college or uni. I also absolutely adore the satchel, perfect for those who aren't confident enough to carry out the full tartan look!
The over sized coat is something that is very on trend this season so this coat from New Look is a great buy for this season; two birds with one stone!
So there is my picks for Tartan!

hello

The name's Sophie.
I love fashion. I like to think that I am somewhat 'fashionable', but what that word really mean is debatable. After all fashion is a form of art and so it is all down to interpretation, personality and taste.
So I thought I would create a blog, just for the fun of it, to showcase what I consider to be 'fashionable'
I doubt anyone will read this but hey ho!
